December 10th is Dewey Decimal System, Human Rights, International Animal Rights, National Lager, Nobel Prize and more!

Dewey Decimal System Day

Dewey Decimal System Day, December 10th, commemorates a system of classification and the man who created it. Melvil Dewey (1851-1931), a writer from 1851, was born on December 10, 1851. Library classification was created by the librarian using the Dewey Decimal system.

Human Rights Day

The United States Human Rights Day, which takes place on December 10th, annually seeks to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

International Animal Rights Day

Every year, on December 10th, animal rights campaigners around the world try to persuade people that kindness and compassion are due to all sentient beings. Animals are obviously included in this, of course.

National Lager Day

On December 10th, the third most popular drink after water and tea is a glass. We're sure that summer is meant to be celebrated with a few of your favorite things, although lager is typically thought of as a light, summer beer.

Nobel Prize Day

Nobel Prize Day on December 10th honors Alfred Nobel's annual award, which was established by Alfred Nobel. On November 27, 1895, Alfred Nobel signed his third and last will at the Swedish-Norwegian Club in Paris. Nobel Prize Laurel was the first and read after his death, causing a lot of controversy both in Sweden and internationally, as Nobel had left a lot of his money to establish a prize. He family opposed establishing the Nobel Prize, and the award winners, who had been named, refused to do what he had requested in his will. In 1901, it was five years before the first Nobel Prize was awarded in 1901.
