Beer Can Appreciation Day
Beer Can Appreciation Day in 1935 commemorates the great day in 1935, when beer was first sold in cans.
Although Krueger Brewing Company of Richmond, Virginia, sold the first beer in a can, American Can Company created drinkable canned beer. Krueger took the risk with the American Can Company just weeks before Prohibition was repealed.. The hefty steel cans opened with a church key, weighing in at 4 ounces. Beer can FAQ
Why is it called a "church key"?
A. This tool looks similar to the heavy iron keys that used to be used to lock a church, so the term "church key" for a can opener is used. They also opened a can, much like a key opens a door.
Q. Is Beer Can Appreciation Day a beverage or invention holiday?
A. It's both! More people would enjoy the beverage after improving the brewing and distribution of beer through the canning process.
Q. Did the beer development have an effect on other industries? Yes, yes. Since manufacturers invented cans for beer, they were able to start canning other beverages, such as juice and soda, as well as soda and sour cream.
