The merry-go-round is one of the oldest amusement rides, along with the roller coaster. The merry-go-round turns on a circular platform around a pole, also known as the carousel. Riders are seated on the platform. Around the large central pole, the A motor spins the platform. Between rows of seats, passengers ride wooden horses and other animals. The animals are held in place by poles, which are tied to poles. The colorful animals move up and down every once in a while. Galloping is similar to galloping. National Merry-Go-Round Day was established in 2014 by Bette Largent, President of the National Carousel Association and carousel scholar Ronald Hopkins. These stunning, historical works were created on the day to shine a spotlight on these dazzling, historical creations. The date honors the first U.S. patent granted in 1871 to William Schneider of Davenport, Iowa, for the modern carousel.
