Author Carole Mac founded National Gift of the Ladybug Day on January 28 (the birthday of her dearly deceased son) 2022 to share the growing importance of The Gift of the Lady Bug and its ability to bring people together to honor children with critical illnesses. The inspiration for the book The Gift of the Ladybug came after Mac's inspiration for the book The Gift of the Ladybug emerged after she received troubling news about her son. She found a way to handle her sadness by releasing The Gift of the Ladybug, the children's book, to help others. It has since been a way for families of children with critical illnesses to receive the news with peace and love.
