National Freethought Day

## How to be a freethought day on a freethought day.

Consider rationally and use #FreethoughtDay to post on social media.

THE DAY HISTORY OF NATIONAL FREETHOUGHT THOUGHT HISTORY. HISTORY DAY HISTORY. Several organizations that have existed since at least 1997 have celebrated Freethought Day. The Freethought Society, American Humanist Association, and Secular Coalition For America are only a few of the many organizations that include the Freethought Society, American Humanist Association, and Secular Coalition For America.

The organizers selected the date of October 12th in honor of a string of events dating back to the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. During the proceedings, devils and specters' allegations of witnessing devils and specters caused the prosecution to be suspended due to conflict. The hysteria surrounding the trial and a letter sent by Massachusetts Governor William Phips on October 12th eventually declared "spectral evidence" inadmissible in court. At least 20 defendants had already been executed up to that point, up to that point. Hundreds of people died as a result of the governor's letter.

The trials did resume and "spectral evidence" was accepted, but they were heavily discounted and those who were not guilty were quickly pardoned by Phips.
