World Wish Day
Make-A-Wish's founding on April 29th is every year on April 29th. Make-A-Wish chapters and affiliates are all coming together to reflect on how many wishes they have made come true on this day.
Have you ever had a nagging desire for something to happen? If so, you must have had a wish. Nearly everyone has wished for something at some point in their lives. Some of the most common items people want to include: Here are a few of the most common items that people like to include:
- Good health
- Money
- Basic needs, such as food and shelter, are missing
- Love
- They have the ability to change something about themselves
- To become famous
- World peace
- Freedom
- Happiness
Some of these items are simple to obtain. Some people are not fortunate, particularly for those who live in a poverty-stricken or war-torn world. Adults generally like the above wishes, although the above are examples. But what about children? The majority of children want to have fun, to participate, be accepted for dating, to have a happy household, and to learn. Some children wish they didn't have to do chores, but some children don't have to do chores. Some people wish they could have a career or be someone important when they grow up.
These kinds of dreams do come true for many children. While there are some, children, that will never get the one thing they want to get. They have an incurable or critical illness that prevents them from obtaining their wish, which is the reason for this. This is a sad reality.. Thankfully, Make-A-Wish, for example, exists to assist these children's wishes come true.

The organization was founded by Christopher Greicius, a 7-year-old boy. He was fighting leukemia and had aspired to be a police officer. Make-A-Wish celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2010 by organising a World Wish Day. In nearly 50 countries, Make-A-Wish has granted over 500,000 wishes since its inception.
