On May 6th, National Nurses Day is celebrated annually. On this day, we raise awareness of all nurse contributions and commitments while still acknowledging the vital role nurses play in society. National RN Recognition Day is also this day. This day is also the first day of National Nurses Week and is also known as National RN Recognition Day.
Florence Nightingale's birthday (May 12, 1820 – August 13, 1910) is May 6th and concludes on May 12th, the sixth and final week of National Nurses Week. Florence Nightingale was a celebrated English, sociological reformer, statistician, and the originator of modern nursing. During the Crimean War, she became well-known for helping the wounded soldiers. Nightingale was nicknamed "The Lady with the Lamp" because of her habit of making rounds at night.

Recognize nurses from around the world. They are recognized for their dedication and service to their patients and their field. Inform a friend about the outstanding care you've received from a nurse.
Follow the instructions they give you whether you go to the hospital or have surgery. Particularly follow up care. Ask questions so they know when they need more details... They can't read your minds.
Nurses deserve a shout out and thank them for their hard work, especially in these difficult times.

National nurses day is the oldest national nurses day in history
Dorothy Sutherland, a United States Department of Health employee, wrote to President Eisenhower in 1953, recommending a National Nurses Day. '' An official proclamation was not made. People began celebrating National Nurse Week on their own this year.
In 1974, President Nixon declared a National Nurse Week. Nurses in 1981 introduced a petition requesting that National Recognition Day for Nurses be held on May 6th. ANA (British Nurses Association) Board of Directors (ANA) The American Nurses Association (ANA) Board of Directors took up the banner and promoted the plan. President Ronald Reagan signed the bill in 1982, and the United States Congress designated May 6th as National Recognition Day for Nurses. In 1990, the ANA Board of Directors expanded the celebration to a week-long celebration (May 6-12) in honor of National Nurses Week.
