National Nothing Day

People around the country observe National Nothing Day on January 16th each year. People from around the country celebrate National Nothing Day on January 16th.

(TEAM$ only records the Days, although some may contradict themselves) The observance was established as a day to ensure Americans with one National Day in which they can simply sit without celebrating, observing, or commemorating anything.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on the third Monday of January, ensuring that one-in-seven January 16th's will fall on the same day as Nothing Day, effectively usurping the essence of Nothing Day.

Although it's a good day to do nothing at all, we'd imagine that pouring nothing in a glass and setting it on a table would suffice for celebrations. Every January 16th, you may want to leave your diary page blank. On the 16th, there is no such thing on the calendar. It would be interesting to see what would happen if you sent a blank email on January 16th. "There's nothing here," you get as many replies as you say. "There's nothing here."

Wrap an empty box for those people whose birthdays fall on January 16th. That should elicit a no response appropriate for the occasion.

"What are your plans today?" you should certainly say, "Nothing." When asked, "What are your plans, today?" your answer should clearly be, "Nothing.". What else would your answer be on a day like today? "Nothing" works well as an answer when recognizing the time of day, now that we think about it.
