World Parrot Day

If you imagine a parrot, you probably think of a vibrant bird that talks or mimics sounds. Both of these items are true of most parrots, but not all of them. Also, the parrots that can't talk are still considered intelligent. grey parrot is the most intelligent parrot. Alex, a species of this species, was reported to have the intelligence of a 5-year-old. Alex knew colors, shapes, and over 100 English words. Other popular parrots include the African grey parrot, Fischer's lovebirds, monk eets, cockatoos, Amazon parrots, and macaws.

Around 350 species of parrots are currently available around the world. Nearly half of these species are endangered. About a quarter of all parrot species are critically endangered. The majority of parrot species are endangered. Several species have been listed as endangered due to habitat destruction, hunting, and illicit trade of wild parrots.

The history of the world parrot day has dominated history

In 2004, the first World Parrot Trust sponsored the first World Parrot Day. The WPT held a parrot rally in Trafalgar Square in London on May 31st. From there, activists and supporters marched toward Downing Street. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom then presented a petition that contained 33,000 signatures to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The petition called for a complete ban on importing wild parrots into the European Union. The EU Commission declared a permanent ban on wild bird imports, including parrots, in 2007.
