D-day

The landing of Allied forces on the beaches of Normandy, France, is most commonly associated with the term D-Day, which is also known as D-Day. Troops mounted one of the most pivotal attacks against Germany during World War II.

Operation Overlord, the codename for Operation Overlord, became known as the start of World War II. Following the Battle of Normandy along a 50 mile stretch of beaches, including Utah and Omaha Beach, the assault became known as D-Day.. Though many reasons exist for the name, one reason may be due to the military countdown. The day and hour of the assault were set by the clock. The civil war liberated Northern France. Under the leadership of General Dwight Eisenhower, more than 160,000 Allied troops from Britain, the United States, and Canada sent more than 160,000 troops under the command of General Dwight Eisenhower. The troops manned more than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft the day of the initial landing.
