International Falafel Day
Falafel Day is held every year on June 12th, falafel enthusiasts come together to commemorate International Falafel Day. It's also a day to remind people who have never tried falafel to try it.
Falafel is a deep-fried ball made from ground chickpeas and is a deep-fried ball for those who don't know what it is. It can also be flat or a doughnut-shaped patty. Falafel is often made with fava beans. Other ingredients may include onions and spices, such as cumin or coriander. Falafel is made by some people, while others stuff it inside a pita and eat it as a wrap. The dish is a favorite among vegetarians and vegans because falafel does not contain any meat or dairy.
Many Middle Eastern countries have been lauded for inventing falafel over the years. However, Egypt's food was most definitely developed there. Despite this, falafel is closely related to Israeli cuisine. In fact, a well-known Israeli singer named Nisim Garame wrote a song about falafel being the country's national dish.
Here are some of the lyrics: Here are a few of the songs that have been posted:
Every child knows that macaroni is Italian.
The Austrians in Vienna have delectable schnitzel. The Austrians in Vienna have delectable schnitzel.
Frogs are eaten by the French people, and the French eat frogs...
And we have falafel, falafel, and falafel...
The popular Middle Eastern food eventually made its way to other countries around the world, including the United States.
Even though falafel is deep-fried in oil, the dish does have some health benefits. Falafel is a good source of fiber and plant-based protein. Helping to control blood sugar levels is one of the dish's chickpeas. It's best not to deep fry falafel to get the health benefits of the dish, not to deep fry it. Baking it instead makes a healthier version of falafel.
