Public service employees serve in their communities for as long as the United Nations has long recognized the important work that public service employees do in their communities. The UN Public Service Awards were established for this reason. The awards promote and recognize creativity in the field of public services, encouraging innovation and excellence.
The winners of these awards are divided into five regional groups. Africa, Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe, Latin American, and the Caribbean are among the continents represented by these organizations, as well as Western Asia. The coveted award has been given to more than 250 projects. These initiatives have ranged from promoting gender equality to improving health care.
