International Me/cfs Awareness Day

International ME/CFS Awareness Day, which takes place every year, raises the concern of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome. It's also a day to draw attention to other chronic immunological and neurological disorders (CIND).

ME/CFS) is a debilitating and complicated disorder. One of the key signs of ME/CFS is overwhelming exhaustion. This exhaustion can hinder those with the disease from doing their regular daily activities. It can also discourage people from doing simple tasks, such as taking a shower.. People are bedridden for lengthy stretches of time as a result of severe cases. Those with ME/CFS are unable to do anything but rest to feel better. After any sort of physical or mental activity, the exhaustion is usually worse. For those people, ME/CFS has an effect on every facet of life, including education and work. Their social lives are also affected by their illness.

Besides chronic exhaustion, other signs of ME/CFS include::

  • Muscle or joint pain
  • Headaches
  • Sore throat
  • Brain fog
  • Dizziness
  • Irregular heartbeats
  • Flu-like symptoms

Several of these signs are similar to those of autoimmune diseases. However, researchers do not really know what causes ME/CFS.

ME/CFS affects 17 million people around the world. This number includes up to 2.5 million Americans. A significant number of those who have it do not have a medical diagnosis. Many people go undiagnosed due to the disorder's complexity. ME/CFS has more effect on women than men. This disease typically occurs between the ages of 20 to 40. Most people with ME/CFS will get better over time. However, some people will never recover fully. To properly diagnose and manage this complex disease, extensive study and analysis must be done.
