More than 40 years of productivity and accuracy began on June 26, 1974, when a clerk scanned a 10-pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum at a Marsh supermarket in Troy, Ohio, OH, beginning on June 26, 1974. The barcode system created by IBM engineer George Lauer on that day began to change the world.
