National Butter Day
Using few ingredients makes a dish richer and more flavorful than butter. National Butter Day is on November 17th, and those who make it are given a pat on the back.
Butter has been used by humans for thousands of years. In many kitchens, the butter churn was a staple tool in the first half of the last century. Households were unable to survive without this delectable staple as butter was rationed during World War II.
Butter can be used in both simple and complicated ways: Spread a pat of butter on warm toast for an instant boost of flavor and texture, or use it to create the light, flaky layers in a croissant. It also increases the mouthfeel of hot drinks, such as coffee and cocktails, and it also helps keep meats tender when roasting. Butter is the key ingredient in delectable sauces, rich cookies, creamy mashed potatoes, hearty casseroles, and so on. It's all about butter.
Every year, the average American eats 6.3 pounds, or about 25 sticks, of cow's butter. Butter is ubiquitous in cuisines around the world, and every one of them uses it to enhance their recipes and enrich their lives.
The phrase "Please, pass the butter" around the dinner table connects us to those we break bread with and the food we love to eat. With butter, you can honor your favorite dishes and baked goods.
