National Donald Duck Day was first announced by Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley in 1984 on Donald's 50th birthday... As a tribute to the big day, the world's most popular duck gave the city a silver statue of himself. He also toured the country in the run-up to the big Disney birthday party bash.
