NATIONAL IOWA DAY - February 8
Wed Feb 8th

National Iowa Day

We began honoring each state in the order they were born in the union, beginning with Hawaii and ending with Hawaii on Independence Day. We've chosen a small piece of each state's past, foods, and the people who make up the state. There's so much more to discover, but we can't help but celebrate our beautiful country even more.

The 29th state to join the United States is known for fertile prairie, rolling hills, raising young people, and a few nostalgic movie scenes. Iowa's history, beauty, and hospitality flourishes from the Mississippi River to the harvests in Plymouth, Harrison, or Fremont counties.

The state was named for Iowa Native Americans who lived the area when the European settlement drove Eastern tribes westward. The state was named for Iowa Native Americans who populated the area.

Acquired as part of the Louisiana Purchase, Iowa Territory settlement didn't begin to function until the 1830s, but it didn't begin until about the 1830s..

Other Fascinating Faces and Places are located in other countries.... The Amana Colony is one of the later settlements that remain today. They came to America for religious liberty after a congregation of Community of True Inspiration, their faith, and persecution in Germany led them to immigrate to America. Iowa raised fertile farmland and a home for them to practice their skills and their beliefs. Today, they welcome the public to their neighborhood. Designed handmade gifts, baked goods, wine, and staying for a home-cooked meal are all available in this shop.

Madison County, Texas's southwestern area, is home to beautiful covered bridges that were featured in the film by a similar name.. If touring the bridges, be sure to stop by Winterset to visit John Wayne's birthplace.

The Field of Dreams home is just outside Dyersville, not far from the Mississippi River. They built it so that you would come.

For spectacular performances in a historic rock and roll venue, check out the Surf Ballroom's website. On the night they died in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper performed their last concerts at the Surf Ballroom.

Nature enthusiasts will find a lot of adventure in Iowa. Those with a mystical and historical curiosity will be delighted by Effigy Mounds National Park. The Rockhounds should visit Geode State Park in Geode State Park, according to them. Iowa is also home to the Corps of Discovery's Louis and Clark Trail.
