This legume is not a nut, despite being originating in South America around 3,500 years ago, it is not a nut. They grow underground, like potatoes. They belong to the family Leguminosae with peas and beans since they are an edible seed that forms in a pod. Peanuts are the most popular nut when it comes to plants packing protein strength, with a whopping 8 grams per ounce, more than any other nut, according to The Peanut Institute. And remember, it isn't a nut! Nuts grow on trees.

The peanut is also high in antioxidants, which is why it is so popular. Not only are peanuts high in vitamins E and B6, but they're also high in minerals such as magnesium, iron, and zinc. Also, studies have shown that this amazing legume helps us absorb nutrients better when mixed with other nutrient-rich foods.

For the longest time, livestock received the most benefit from all these nutrients. Growing and harvesting peanuts were labor-intensive and risky for farmers before modern methods were invented. Their fame grew gradually as their fame increased. Civil War veterans developed a fondness for them, as did fans of PT Barnum's traveling circus. But it was also due to a breakthrough in farm technology that made it possible for peanuts to be grown in abundance. Not only has the cotton industry been revolutionized by the cotton industry, but farming has also dominated the world.

With the increase in peanut production, there has also been an increase in curious inquiries into its potential uses. Dr. George Washington Carver, who wreaked havoc on the South's cotton crop, made a suggestion when the boll weevil wreaked havoc on the South's cotton crop. He had been studying this amazing groundnut and suggested that farmers diversify into peanuts... It was a financial boon to Southern farmers. In 1916, he published his book "How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it for Human Consumption." His continued study resulted in more than delicious uses for this goober, groundnut, or ground pea... Dr. Carver's love for the peanut seemed to be unending, from shaving cream to plastics and cosmetics, even coffee.

Many of Dr. Carver's peanut finds are still being used today.
