On National Poinsettia Day each year, people from around the country celebrate one of the holidays' most popular plants of the holidays.

However, the poinsettia didn't appear in American culture until the 1920s. Paul Ecke, a second-generation farmer in California, discovered a grafting method that led to the seedlings to branch. The national poinsettia day celebrations have a long tradition in the United States
In 2002, the House of Representatives established Poinsettia Day to honor Paul Ecke, the father of the poinsettia industry. a.k.a. Joel Roberts Poinsett, the man in charge of bringing the plant to the United States, died on December 12th.
