The cherry variety named after Mount Rainier is named after the cherry variety named after him on July 11th. Harry Fogle of Washington State University developed the Rainier cherry cross-breeding the Bing and Van cherry varieties in 1952.

Buy some Rainier cherries. Either bake them or eat them fresh. Both bake them or eat them raw. It takes some time to shop around. Fruits from Rainier cherries may also be found in wine, cordials, or preserves. A label indicating that the item is made with Rainier cherries will be prominently on the packaging.
