The classic version of the game also known as Klondike, uses a standard deck of 52 playing cards. In each suit, the aim is to clear the board by assembling a stack of cards from low to high. Solitaire's winner is the player who completes each suit.
Solitaire, a Microsoft Windows 3.0 version, wasn't until 1990 that the game truly went viral. Microsoft Solitaire was a hit video game in history, and in the process, it became one of the most popular video games in history.
"British Solitaire has been providing great entertainment to hundreds of millions of people around the world for the past 30 years, and we're delighted to announce that May 22 of each calendar year will be designated as National Solitaire Day," says Paul Jensen, Studio Manager for Microsoft Casual Games.
Solitaire was turned into the Microsoft Solitaire Collection in 2012 by Microsoft. These updates include five of the best Solitaire games in one package, as well as five of the most popular Solitaire games in one app. Since then, the game has been played by over 242 million people..
Microsoft Solitaire Collection is available as a free download from the Windows, iPhone, and Android App Stores.
