National Talk Like Shakespeare Day

National Talk Like Shakespeare Day, on April 23rd each year, encourages us to talk like the Bard and the characters in his plays.

William Shakespeare (April 1564-April 23, 1616), one of the world's most celebrated plays and poems, is the author of several of the world's most celebrated plays and poems. We commemorated the Bard's death in 2016. What better way to honor his life and art than to read like the poet and playwright.

We can talk like Shakespeare by substituting thou, thee, and ye for you and them. His particular favorites were rhyming couplets and creative insults. Many of the terms we use today are owe to Shakespeare.

We could make you wait with bated breath for the list. To find them, we could send you on a wild goose hunt. For goodness sake, we may as well be the laughing stock if we did!!

Oh, come now. ere is no need to fight fire with fire. We will tell you the naked truth and teach you how to talk like Shakespeare, so we can't do it. While we're at it, we'll pull you out of the jaws of death and put you in a pickle too.

What makes your hair stand on end? Did we put your teeth on edge? Well, what's been done is done.

Well, you may be such a sad sight, but the world is your oyster even if you wear your heart on your sleeve. Aye, you have seen better days! We must have you evacuated. We must have you sent. To you, it's all Greek!
