National Thomas Jefferson Day

On April 13th, the third President of The United States, Thomas Jefferson, who was born on April 13, 1743, is commemorated each year on National Thomas Jefferson Day. Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743.

Jefferson, the primary author of the Declaration of Independence and most well-known as the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, was a stalwart of democracy. Although not much an orator, his pen cut a swath of ink from correspondence, papers, journals, and manuscripts, proving that he was not much of an orator.

Those who write prefer to read. Jefferson was no different than the others. His vast library of 6,500 volumes was 6,500 volumes.

Jefferson was not only a lawyer, but also a scientist of agriculture, paleontology,, and astronomy. He kept meticulous records of the weather and eventually established weather observers throughout his home state of Virginia, which was quite curious.

Jefferson served as Minister to France, Secretary of State in President Washington's Cabinet, and ran for President in 1796 but only to be defeated Vice President John Adams due to a constitutional defect.

Four years later, the same flaw in the paper resulted in a tie between Aaron Burr and Jefferson, with Jefferson taking the Presidency.
