Silver Star Service Banner Day
Every May 1st, Americans commemorate the sacrifices of the combat wounded, sick, and dying service members on Silver Star Service Banner Day. The day also honors service members who have been awarded the Silver Star Medal.
The Silver Star Service Banner and Flag honors Silver Star families for their contributions and gallantry throughout the United States military's various branches. The observance of military veterans and their families around the country on May 1st encourages us to celebrate military veterans and their families.
For those who serve in the United States military, 1/10th suffers a serious injury. The majority of those injuries are related to combat. Our veterans live with those injuries for the remainder of their lives. The injuries also act as a regular reminder of sacrifices during war or conflict.

History has a silver star service banner day for the first time in history
During World War II, the Blue and Gold Service Banners made their debuts in 1918 during World War II. The United States officially adopted and made official the Blue and Gold Star Service Banners over time. However, the country skipped the Silver Star Service Banner. Nevertheless, the country ignored the Silver Star Service Banner. Representatives responded and accepted The Silver Star Service Flag and Banner as soon as they were identified. On April 21, 2010, the SSFOA Silver Star Service Banner was officially released and the Silver Star Service Banner Day was held in the United States House of Representatives. H Res. 855, a stand-alone resolution, was passed by the Senate on April 21, 2010, making the SSFOA Silver Star Service Banner official and naming May 1st Silver Star Service Banner Day.
The military has been praised for "Gallantry in Action" since 1818, according to the Citation Star. The Silver Star Medal replaced the Citation Star and was first awarded in 1942. For specific actions in combat, military service personnel are given the Silver Star Medal. Between 100,000 and 150,000 Silver Star Medals have been awarded by the military.
