When is International Plastic Free Day?
Thursday May 25thPlastic Free Day is a call to action that draws attention to the plastic we use every day. Plastic bottles, take-out food containers, utensils, bags, and wrappers will be used for one day on May 25th.
Plastic is made every year in the United States. Plastic is made in over 380 million tons. Plastic made in half is single-use, implying that it is thrown away after just one use. Since only 9% of all plastic is recycled, the majority of plastic ends up littering our streets, filling our landfills, and polluting our oceans. International Plastic Free Day helps raises the public's understanding of how much plastic we use every day and how we can use less of it.
