When is National Backyard Day?

Sunday March 19th

Our backyards have turned into our home away from home, our playgrounds, and an extension of our houses. We're celebrating National Backyard Day and all the ways we've improved the spaces and places we've named our oasis on March 19th. Our backyards are the envy of our backyards.

National Backyard Day - March 19th

They're no longer just a little patch of land with some lawn chairs anymore.. They may barely be a porch or a postage stamp of concrete for some of us. But as the workweek comes to an end, we turn them into Staycation Destination #1. We've developed square foot gardens, vertical gardening, pallet furniture, the art of charcuterie, and massive lawn games. They've grown to our outdoor theaters, with movies projected onto large screens under an open sky and Adirondack seating..

We love nature in the evenings, so we go to our backyards to discover nature. We wait for the bees to harvest their nectar. Our bird feeders attract birds of every size and color, as well as furry creatures such as frogs. We take a look at the skies at night, tracking satellites and identifying constellations. We may get a meteor shower or two with luck.

Our backyards provide quiet solitude, a satisfying break for reading and napping, as well as a place for gathering with friends and family... We've returned to our backyards to connect nature, to each other, and ourselves.
