NATIONAL ESPRESSO DAY – November 23

In Italian, the word espresso (/sprso/; Italian pronunciation: [esprsso]) means "quick in time." (eprsso) denotes "quick in time" in Italian. Espresso was simply a cup of coffee specifically made for the individual who was ordering it before the espresso machine was invented. It was also made with newly roasted and freshly ground beans. The cup was brewed just before serving. This activity was commonplace in cafés and restaurants in the late 1800s and restaurants.

Although today's espresso maintains the freshness quality, it has undergone a change in meaning. Espresso is now available in smaller quantities, and we've come to know it as a highly concentrated brew. Espresso can also be used as a base for other delectable coffee creations.

We can thank the espresso machine for this modern interpretation of espresso. Italian Luigi Bezzera invented the first commercial espresso machine in 1901. The newer technologies resulted in a smaller, more concentrated cup that was more popular than traditional coffee brewing methods. In addition, this thicker, more robust brew created the crema, a creamy foam on top. Delicate lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and several café creations can be made from an espresso's richer flavors and aromas.

The intense flavor of espresso lends itself to baking, transcending the range of beverages. Where coffee is lost when mixed with other flavors, the espresso remains strong. Where coffee is often lost when mixed with other flavors. For a cheesecake, blend it with cream cheese, sugar, and flour. Add it to ladyfingers and make tiramisu. Many desserts call for espressos such as ice cream and crème brûlée..
