When is National Iowa Day?

We began honoring each state in the order they were born in the union, beginning with Hawaii and ending with Hawaii on Independence Day. We've chosen a small piece of each state's past, foods, and the people who make up the state. There's so much more to discover, but we can't help but celebrate our beautiful country even more.

NATIONAL IOWA DAY - February 8

The 29th state to join the United States is known for fertile prairie, rolling hills, raising young people, and a few nostalgic movie scenes. Iowa's history, beauty, and hospitality flourishes from the Mississippi River to the harvests in Plymouth, Harrison, or Fremont counties.

The state was named for Iowa Native Americans who lived the area when the European settlement drove Eastern tribes westward. The state was named for Iowa Native Americans who populated the area.
