On February 27th, we're focusing on conservation efforts and learning more about the regal polar bear on National Polar Bear Day, also known as International Polar Bear Day..

National Polar Bear Day - February 27

Polar bears can reach a height of 9 ft tall and a weight of 1400 pounds. They paddle with their large, barely webbed front paws to paddle. Some polar bears swim hundreds of miles from land as they are excellent swimmers. polar bears are also a good swimmer. However, some of the distance may have been covered by ice sheets floating on sheets of ice.

Polar bears have a warming layer of fat under their thick coat of insulating fur, which helps them live in cooler climates.

Throughout the world, several organisations use this day to raise concerns of the decreasing number of polar bears worldwide. Many believe global warming and the consequent loss of their natural habitat threaten these beautiful creatures. Groups from around the world gather to find ways to make a difference and spread knowledge to others.
