When the pilgrims returned Pumpkin pie to New England in the early seventeenth century, it became a common addition to the Thanksgiving dinner in the early nineteenth century. The pumpkin pie was first made by stuffing the pumpkin with apples, spices, and sugar, then baking it whole.
