Shapewear has a history that parallels the evolution of clothed civilization. As far back as Greek and Roman times, archaeological drawings depicting women wearing corset-like clothing exist. However, during the 16th-century, corsets and shaping undergarments ascended to the status of essential fashion. Historically, then, king, dominated the trends and the new style of the period. The popular corset was among the most recognizable pieces in a woman's ensemble, as a result of many changes and shifts in clothing style.
