A roasted marshmallow with a layer of chocolate bar sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker is sandwiched between two pieces of granham cracker.

Alec Barnum, the entrepreneur, is believed to have invented this delectable snack. However, the first documented version of the recipe can be found in the Girl Scouts' 1927 publication Tramping and Trailing. Girl Scouts were not the first ones to make s'mores, but Girl Scout organizations were still writing about them in their reports as early as 1925. "Some Mores" was the name given to older recipes in the cookbook. It's unclear when the word "mores" became the more common term.

Many variations on the original s'more can be found in a campfire today.
