A thrift shop (also known as a thrift store, charity shop, hospice store, second-hand shop, consignment, or resale shop) is a chain store that sells gently used products. Charitable charities run the stores to raise funds in accordance with the organization's stated charitable cause. If times have been difficult, the organization may also use some of the items to help others get back to their feet after a disaster or when times have been difficult.
Volunteers work the stores. The public supports the majority of items, while volunteers staff the stores. Since the items were donated, prices have been reduced to a lower price to the buyers.
People come in to sell in a consignment store. When the product is sold, the consignment store keeps a share of the proceeds.
