When is Pledge Of Allegiance Day?

On December 28th, the date Congress adopted the Pledge into the United States Flag Code was commemorated.

The Pledge of Allegiance was officially recognized by the Pledge of Allegiance in Congress on December 28, 1945. Francis Bellamy is lauded for drafting the Pledge of Allegiance. The Youth's Companion, a magazine for young people, first published it anonymously on September 8, 1892, under the heading "The Pledge." It was written in honor of the discovery of America's 400th anniversary.

In 1923 and 1924, the National Flag Conference introduced text of the pledge into legislation. Although updates were made, the pledge remained nearly the same. In reaction to the anti-Communist movement that swept the country during the Cold War, Congress added the word "under God" on Flag Day in 1954.
