When is Silver Star Service Banner Day?

Monday May 1st

Every May 1st, Americans commemorate the sacrifices of the combat wounded, sick, and dying service members on Silver Star Service Banner Day. The day also honors service members who have been awarded the Silver Star Medal.

The Silver Star Service Banner and Flag honors Silver Star families for their contributions and gallantry throughout the United States military's various branches. The observance of military veterans and their families around the country on May 1st encourages us to celebrate military veterans and their families.

For those who serve in the United States military, 1/10th suffers a serious injury. The majority of those injuries are related to combat. Our veterans live with those injuries for the remainder of their lives. The injuries also act as a regular reminder of sacrifices during war or conflict.

How to celebrate #silverstarservicebannerday..

Silver Star service members and families are honored at local veterans and military bases. Military bases and military bases host events. Volunteer for an event or group. Show appreciation and respect to those who have returned from deployment, injured, or sick.
