World Penguin Day - April 25

Did you know that the Emperor Penguin is the largest of all birds and the largest of the 18 penguin species? Emperors are expected to be 595,000 adults today, and from birth, they spend their entire life on Antarctic ice. In temperatures below 50 degrees Celsius, these wondrous critters can also incubate their eggs like other birds; only in temperatures below -50 degrees Celsius – that's cold!

Emperor Penguins are the tallest, measuring about 4 feet high. Little Blue, the tiniest of the lot, stands about 16 inches tall. And Penguins are excellent swimmers, with the fastest penguin swimmer reaching speeds of 22 mph.
