When is World Sea Turtle Day?

Sea turtles are one of the most endangered species of sea turtles every year on June 16th. The day also encourages global activists to investigate the dangers that sea turtles face.

Did you know that sea turtles have been on the planet for more than 100 million years? This means that sea turtles coexisted with dinosaurs. There are seven species of sea turtles found in the United States. These include green, hawksbill, Kemp's ridley, leatherback, loggerhead, and the Olive ridley. The leatherback is the most prominent of these species of sea turtles.... Anywhere from 550 to 2,000 pounds, the leatherback sea turtle weighs anywhere from 550 to 2,000 pounds. This species of sea turtle grows up to six feet in length. Sea turtles live in both fresh and warm waters around the world. The flatback can only be found in Australia, however, the flatback can only be found in Australia.
