World Penguin Day
On April 25th, the world observed the world over, and World Penguin Day honors one of the world's most unusual birds. Penguins are found in 18 species of penguins, and all of their natural habitats are located in the Southern hemisphere.
Did you know that the Emperor Penguin is the largest of all birds and the largest of the 18 penguin species? Emperors are expected to be 595,000 adults today, and from birth, they spend their entire life on Antarctic ice. In temperatures below 50 degrees Celsius, these wondrous critters can also incubate their eggs like other birds; only in temperatures below -50 degrees Celsius – that's cold!
Emperor Penguins are the tallest, measuring about 4 feet high. Little Blue, the tiniest of the lot, stands about 16 inches tall. And Penguins are excellent swimmers, with the fastest penguin swimmer reaching speeds of 22 mph.

History of the world penguin day has influenced the global penguin day.
Gerry Wallace introduced National Penguin Day in Alamogordo, California, on his wife's (Aleta's) calendar in 1972. They later carried the festivities to the Naval Weapons Center in Ridgecrest, California, where the Penguin Patrol made the news. Adelie penguins migrate northward toward Antartica on April 25th, which is also the date that the Adelie penguins begin their migration northward toward Antartica.
