World Urbanism Day
World Urbanism Day celebrates and promotes the importance of planning and building livable communities on November 8th. The day is also known as World Town Planning Day.
The word urbanism refers to how people of urban areas interact with the built environment. Towns, cities, and other places with higher populations are located in urban areas. The main aim of urban planning is to make the neighborhood safe and livable for its residents. Urban planning also ensures orderly growth.

History of the world urbanism day has a rich tradition.
In 1949, World Town Planning Day was founded by late Professor Carlos Maria della Paolera of the University of Buenos Aires. He served as both a civil engineer and a member of Argentina's national geography committee. The day also became known as World Urbanism Day in later years. More than 30 countries on four continents participate today.
